My Views on Beauty

1) Can we portray ugliness as something beautiful?

Yes, because everything has a unique quality to it. This unique quality is beautiful in itself because it is special. Secondly, there is nothing on earth that is absolutely ugly. When you compare an object that is deemed ugly with another object that is even uglier, then the first object would be deemed more beautiful than the second object. Hence, ugliness can be portrayed as something beautiful.

2) Look at the paintings below, what differences in technique and meaning can you find between the works?

The difference among the 3 works lies in the level of details in each painting. The level of detail is highest in the first painting, followed by the second painting, and finally the third painting.

A higher level of details creates more realistic painting. The first painting is so detailed that it resembles a photograph. The second painting appears to be more classic style based on its painting technique, while the third painting appears more modern with its minimalist appearance.

3) Out of all the images shown, which one stands out for you and why?

The first painting stands out for me. This is because it is so realistic that it looks like a photograph. The man in the painting has a honest and simple-minded look. His expression is very realistic as he appears to be looking at a camera waiting for his picture to be taken. In comparison, the other two paintings are less realistic due to the lesser amount of details.

4) If you had one burning question about beauty, what would it be?
